Youth Horseback Riding Lessons in Omaha, NE | Ashley Mason Equestrian

More Than an Hour in the Saddle.

Riding is just the beginning.

At Ashley Mason Equestrian, we believe children are capable of so much more than simply learning to ride.

Our youth programs combine thoughtful riding instruction, hands-on horsemanship, and a clear path for progression. From a child’s very first introduction to horses to their growing ambitions as an equestrian, we’re here to teach, encourage, and celebrate each step along the way.

A Place to Learn. A Place to Grow. A Place to Belong.

There’s something special about watching a child discover what they’re capable of.

Sometimes it’s the first time they confidently lead a horse. Sometimes it’s mastering a skill they’ve been working toward for weeks. And sometimes it’s the quiet pride that comes from caring for an animal much larger than themselves.

These are the moments we believe matter.

At AME, we take the time to teach children not only how to ride, but how to understand the horses they work with. We encourage curiosity, independence, responsibility, and confidence, both in and out of the saddle.

Because while riding is what brings our students here, what they learn along the way is just as important.

Progress With Purpose.

Every child learns differently, but every child deserves to know what they’re working toward.

That’s why we developed The Levels of HorseMastership, our structured, ten-level equestrian education program.

Think of it a little like earning belts in karate. Each level introduces new skills, builds on what students have already learned, and gives riders something meaningful to work toward.

Students progress through five areas of equestrian education:

  • Riding: Developing balance, position, communication, and independence.
  • Knowledge: Understanding horses, their behavior, and the principles behind good riding.
  • Horsemanship: Building confidence and skill while working with horses on the ground.
  • Tack & Tacking: Learning to identify, use, and care for riding equipment.
  • Stable Management: Understanding the daily care and responsibilities that come with horses.

Our students don’t simply move forward because they’ve attended a certain number of lessons. They progress as they develop the knowledge, understanding, and skills appropriate to each level.

There is always something new to learn, and always something to be proud of.

An Experience That Grows With Your Child.

There isn’t just one way to enjoy horses, and there shouldn’t be just one way to learn.

Some children are discovering riding for the first time. Others have already developed a passion for the sport and are eager to spend more time in the saddle.

Our three youth memberships provide the opportunity to begin, develop, and continue progressing with the consistency and education each rider needs.

Aspiring Equestrian

$325/mo

Every Equestrian Starts Somewhere.

From the very first lesson, we’re laying the foundation for everything that follows.

Our Aspiring Equestrian Membership welcomes children who are new to horses as well as those continuing to develop their riding skills.

Through weekly riding lessons and horsemanship classes, students learn to ride, care for horses, and develop the confidence and independence that come with a strong understanding of the fundamentals.

Includes four riding lessons and four horsemanship classes each month.

Sophisticated Equestrian

$565/mo

Building Skills. Developing Confidence. Making Progress.

As riders become more confident and capable, they’re often ready for more.

Our Sophisticated Equestrian Membership offers the consistency of twice-weekly riding lessons, allowing students to build on what they’ve learned, develop greater independence, and work toward new skills.

Combined with continued horsemanship education, this membership supports riders who are ready to make a greater commitment to their equestrian development.

Includes eight riding lessons and eight horsemanship classes each month.

Premier Equestrian

$795/mo

For Those Who Have Found Their Passion.

For some children, horses become much more than something they do once or twice a week.

Our Premier Equestrian Membership is designed for riders who are eager to dedicate more time to their education and continue developing their abilities.

With twelve riding lessons each month, students have additional opportunities to refine their skills, develop consistency, and pursue their individual riding goals.

Includes twelve riding lessons each month.

There’s So Much More to Discover.

For many of our students, the barn becomes an important part of their lives.

As their interests and abilities grow, we offer opportunities to become more involved in the equestrian community.

Horse Leasing

For riders ready for a greater commitment, leasing provides additional opportunities to ride, develop their skills, and build a meaningful relationship with a horse.

Horse Showing

For students interested in competition, our horse showing program introduces the experience of preparing, participating, and progressing in the show ring.

Camps & Clinics

Our camps and special educational opportunities give students even more ways to learn, spend time with horses, and enjoy being part of the barn.

These opportunities are here when your child is ready. There is no expectation that every rider follows the same path.

Good Horsemanship Begins With Respect.

The horses are at the center of everything we do.

We believe learning to ride comes with the responsibility of learning to care for the horse beneath you.

Our students are taught to recognize the needs of their horses, understand their behavior, and develop considerate riding habits from the very beginning.

Behind every lesson is a commitment to thoughtful horse management, appropriate workloads, and individualized care.

We want our riders to become capable equestrians, but equally important, we want them to become the kind of people who do right by their horses.

Every Equestrian Has a First Day.

Your child doesn’t need riding experience, special equipment, or a horse of their own to get started.

Just an interest in horses and a willingness to learn.

We welcome the opportunity to meet your family, introduce you to our horses, and help you decide whether AME is the right place for your child.
